Creative Summer (and Fall, and Winter) Cocktails with Cannabinoids

Creative Summer (and Fall, and Winter) Cocktails with Cannabinoids

Cocktails are already a great way to relax and unwind, but a new trend you've probably seen everywhere is taking things things one, very chill step further. Replacing activated charcoal as this year's ubiquitous food fad is cannabidiol, the non-psychoactive chemical found in hemp and cannabis that's been creeping its way onto cocktail menus (and into coffee shops) all over the country.  With our varied Kine Tincture formulations, you can find the perfect complement to your favorite adult beverage!

Whether you prefer dark, smoky whiskies or herbal-tinged gins, adding a dose of our Mint, Lemon, or Cinnamon tinctures will elevate any cocktail.

Fans of Moscow Mules will love its burly brother.  Our favorite part of a mule is that small dash of mint, so add Kine Mint Tincture for a cool finish!

The (Zen)tail

Vodka and ginger beer taste great on their own, but put them together and you have a seriously amazing drink. Raspberries, mint, and lemon add a layer of flavor that tastes delicious with the alcohol, but would also taste amazing without it!

Ingredients:

  • Ice
  • 1 oz vodka
  • 4 oz ginger beer
  • Muddled raspberries
  • 1 dose Lemon Kine Tincture
  • Fresh mint
  • Fresh lemon juice to taste

Combine vodka, ginger beer, Kine Tincture, and muddled raspberries to a a shaker with ice.  Shake well and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a lemon wedge.

The terpene content found in gin makes it a natural partner to CBD. We've found that gin-based drinks and other cocktails with a botanical twist work well, mostly because they're also terpene-rich.

Cinnamon and bourbon is a winning combination in chilly weather. Add notes of fragrant citrus to the mix, and you have something that can brighten even the stormiest day. A cinnamon spiced Old Fashioned with muddled blood orange is special enough to serve as a warm welcome to guests, but the ingredients are easy enough that you can keep them around as a treat for yourself any night of the week. Elevate your typical cocktail with this lovely twist on a classic that’s perfect for fall, winter, or even just a chilly day.

Not-So-Old Fashioned

 Ingredients:

  • Ice
  • 3 oz bourbon
  • 1 oz simple syrup (recipe below)
  • 1 dose Kine Red Hot Tincture
  • 1/2 oz lemon juice
  • 3-4 blood orange peels
  • Dash orange bitters
  • 2 cinnamon sticks, for garnish

Simple Syrup (Makes 1 Pint):

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • Combine the sugar and water in a small sauce pan and bring to a gentle simmer. Let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes, until the sugar is completely dissolved and the syrup has thickened slightly. Remove from heat, and allow to cool. Transfer the syrup and cinnamon stick to a sterile jar or bottle and store in the fridge for 4-6 weeks.
Muddle the blood orange peels in the bottom of a cocktail shaker, releasing their oils. Add the simple syrup, tincture, lemon juice, and bourbon along with two ice cubes to the shaker. Shake until chilled. Pour over ice into two rocks glasses, adding a dash of orange bitters to each. Garnish with the muddled orange peel and a cinnamon stick to serve.
